The students who serve as army cadets in the UCLA Reserve Officer Training Corps trade in their mornings and weekends for scholarships and the opportunity to commission as officers in the U.S. Armed Forces after graduation. The Indian Student Union and undergraduate student government hosted Holi in the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center Monday afternoon. Prosthetic ‘BairClaw’ helps amputees ‘touch’
Veronica Santos is an associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and director of the UCLA biomechatronics laboratory. Her team is working on developing the “BairClaw,” a robot hand testbed. They are using this to study how humans interact with objects and hope to develop ways to provide amputees with a conscious perception of touch.
