UCLA surgeon and associate professor alleges racial discrimination in lawsuit against Regents

Dr. Christian Head, a head and neck surgeon, said in the complaint filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court that he has been routinely publicly humiliated by colleagues.

*UPDATED:* Water main rupture causes flood in buildings near Court of Sciences Student Center

An underground water main rupture early Tuesday morning sent water flooding into the Court of Sciences Student Center and causing a yet-unknown amount of damage, officials said on Tuesday.

Boyer Hall, the Biomedical Sciences Research Building and the Molecular Sciences Building were all partially flooded on their first floors, said Tim Petta, plumbing senior superintendent for UCLA.

A portion of the basement in Boyer Hall and the Biomedical Sciences Research Building were also flooded, Petta added.

What caused the 8-inch water main to break is still being investigated, Petta said.
