Bruins United apologizes for misrepresenting student groups Circle K and Moneythink endorsements of its slate
Bruins United has released a statement apologizing for misrepresentations that occurred during the endorsement process earlier in the week and throughout the undergraduate student government elections.
Earlier in the week, two student groups, UCLA Circle K and Moneythink UCLA, filed complaints with the Undergraduate Students Association Council Election Board for inaccurate endorsements of the Bruins United slate.
The groups were incorrectly listed as supporters of Bruins United on signboards on campus, on the election ballot on MyUCLA and in an advertisement that ran in the Daily Bruin on Monday and Tuesday.
“We fully acknowledge that this miscommunication was within our party and we take full responsibility for this unfortunate situation,” Bruins United leaders said in the statement released Thursday night.
The errors in miscommunication that occurred within the Bruins United slate were because of the “decentralized nature” of the party, according to the statement.
The slate is taking actions to remedy the situation and to ensure that it does not happen again, according to the statement.
