NCAA clears Kyle Anderson to play for UCLA basketball team
On Wednesday, the NCAA cleared freshman guard Kyle Anderson to play in the upcoming basketball season according to an official statement released by Athletic Director Dan Guerrero.
The investigation surrounded the relationship between Anderson’s father, Kyle Anderson Sr., and an NBA agent named Thad Foucher.
Foucher is an agent with the Wasserman group, which was founded by Casey Wasserman, UCLA alum and donor.
Anderson traveled to China with the team over the summer, but the investigation was still ongoing.
The 6-foot-9 guard was a major player in the Bruins’ three-win effort on the China trip.
There was no sign until Wednesday morning that Anderson had been cleared, when the Los Angeles Times reported it based on information from his family members.
UCLA later released the statement, which confirmed the L.A.
UCLA will go tobacco-free in April
UCLA will adopt a tobacco-free policy starting April 22, 2013, which falls on Earth Day, Chancellor Gene Block announced in an email to students this morning.
The ban will apply to all tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, oral tobacco and electronic cigarettes from University-owned and leased property, Block stated in the email.

Students rally in response to claims that UCLA considers race in admissions
About 200 students rallied outside of Kerckhoff Hall today to express concerns about a recent report that suggests UCLA Undergraduate Admissions may be taking race into account during the admissions process and about the Daily Bruin’s news article, opinion column and staff editorial about the report.
The report by UCLA law professor Richard Sander claims that UCLA’s admissions process violates Proposition 209, a 1996 California law that prohibits state institutions from considering race during the admissions or hiring process.
Students at the rally, which was organized by various student groups and individuals on campus, said the report’s claims and the Bruin’s Oct.
