UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel and new offensive coordinator Mike Johnson met with the media in the J.D. Morgan Center at halftime of the UCLA basketball team’s win over Stanford Saturday.
Neuheisel announced that Johnson, former San Fransisco 49ers offensive coordinator, would be joining the UCLA coaching staff as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
UCLA announced Saturday that it has hired Mike Johnson to be the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel will double as the quarterbacks coach. The duo of Johnson and Neuheisel coached the same two positions with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens in 2006 and 2007. Johnson has coached in the NFL since 2000, spending the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
UCLA sophomore forward Tyler Honeycutt talks about his scoring being down since injuring his right elbow in the Bruins’ Dec. 2 loss to Kansas. Honecutt’s elbow was X-rayed last week and results were negative.

Junior guard Malcolm Lee fouled out of Thursday night’s game at the 3:20 mark. Lee was locking down Cal freshman guard Alan Crabbe. Crabbe scored 13 points after Lee exited the game, including a 3-pointer to tie it with 13 seconds remaining.

Freshman center Joshua Smith suffered a mild concussion in the first half and was held out of the rest of the game for precautionary reasons. He is listed as a game time decision for UCLA’s game against Stanford tomorrow

Junior Jerime Anderson, who received much praise from Ben Howland this week, was scoreless in the first half but managed to dish out a game-high four assists.
