At halftime of the biggest UCLA men’s basketball game of the last two years and the last in Pauley Pavilion before its year-long restoration, this much was clear: the Bruins came to play.

Bruins overcome slow start, lead Sun Devils 39-29 at the half
As it has been prone to do, the UCLA men’s basketball team fell behind early to an inferior Pac-10 opponent.
As they’ve also been prone to do, the Bruins stormed back. They head into the half time locker room for the second to last time at the “old” Pauley Pavilion leading Arizona State 39-29. But this isn’t just any inferior opponent. It’s the Sun Devils, who currently sit in 10th place in the Pac-10 standings, 2.5 games behind Oregon State.

Lifetime movie 'William & Kate' films scenes on campus
Most 8 a.m. walks to Spanish 2 fail to peak my interest, but today the staged television broadcasting vans and the students waving British flags in front of Humanities caught my eye. In order to get to the bottom of this seemingly out-of-place event, my fellow Daily Bruin contributor Coleton Schmitto and I went investigating.
Turns out, the filming of the upcoming Lifetime movie “William & Kate” was taking place at several different locations on the UCLA campus earlier today.
Scoop Dreams: Pac-10 Power Rankings (Feb. 23)
Scoop Dreams columnist Eli Smukler checks in with this week’s Pac-10 men’s basketball Power Rankings (you can find last week’s rankings here):
1. No. 10 Arizona (23-4, 12-2 Pac-10)
The spoils of Arizona’s thrilling 87-86 victory over Washington are great. It marks the Wildcats’ eighth straight win, improves their NCAA Tournament résumé and puts them in a comfortable position to snag the Pac-10 title. The crown is clinched if Arizona sweeps the L.A. schools on the road this week, as they did at home last month.
2. Washington (19-8, 10-5)
The loss in Tucson hurts and it means the Huskies’ most likely won’t get the regular season title they were the original favorites to win, but all is not lost for Lorenzo Romar’s team. Washington gets to return to Seattle for the rest of its schedule where it is a perfect 13-0 this year. Winning out would mean a No. 2 seed in the Pac-10 Tournament and a lock to continue into March.
