After staving off elimination twice, the UCLA baseball team finally folded and ended its season with a 3-2 loss to UC Irvine on Sunday.

Coming off a 4-1 win over San Francisco in the early game, the nightcap saw UCLA take a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, but UC Irvine answered with two in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the ninth to seal it.

Freshman closer Nick Vander Tuig took the loss, dropping him to 3-4 to end the season.

UCLA junior pitcher Trevor Bauer kept UCLA’s season alive Saturday at Jackie Robinson Stadium by knocking out Fresno State, 3-1.

Bauer struck out 14 Bulldogs on the day and secured the single season Pac-10 record for strikeouts with 203, eclipsing USC’s Mark Prior mark of 201.

Man involved in Lambda Phi Epsilon party stabbing accepts plea deal after being found guilty of mayhem, battery

More than a year and a half after being arrested, Phi Ly, a 22-year-old man involved in the stabbing of two UCLA students, settled on a plea for 12 years in prison.
Ly, who is not a UCLA student, was one of seven men who were arrested in connection to a stabbing at a Lambda Phi Epsilon party on 621 Midvale Ave.
