Thanks to a second to last minute goal, the UCLA women’s soccer team narrowly avoided their first loss of the season on Friday afternoon.

UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel talks with reporters after Thursday’s practice, the last one the Bruins will have before leaving for Houston, Texas to take on Case Keenum and the Houston Cougars.

Neuheisel’s three team captains will be safety Tony Dye, linebacker Patrick Larimore and running back Johnathan Franklin.

Another interesting piece of news coming out of Thursday’s practice was Neuheisel naming redshirt freshman Kip Smith the place kicker.

UCLA’s 31-13 win over Houston in 2010 was easy to forget. It was followed by a win over Texas and six losses in the next eight games.

The UCLA football team walked through it’s last practice of fall camp Thursday, again sporting shorts and shoulder pads and keeping things light.
