Christopher Owens, the frontman of Girls, arrived on Michelangelo’s Stage just shortly after sunset and proceeded to take the festival into a rocking evening all the while sporting bright red pants that complemented the rose bouquets adorning the band’s microphones.

With the sun coming down behind the four members of Cold War Kids, the band was nearly a silhouette as it played to a full crowd at FYF Fest.

Death From Above 1979 was easily one of the biggest hardcore/punk bands at FYF Fest this year, and judging by the energy of the crowd and the sheer number of people wearing t-shirts which featured the band’s logo, it’s easy to understand why.
Quarterback Kevin Prince went through his second straight day of practice Thursday but apparently didn’t do enough to win the starting job back from Richard Brehaut.
Coach Rick Neuheisel said after practice that Brehaut would “probably” get the starting nod in Saturday’s home opener against San Jose State.

Tale of two practices:
It started out as a fairly energized practice for UCLA with most players doing a solid job staying active and disciplined, but as the day wore on mental errors started compounding, leading to poor results and several substitutions.
