The opening shot of “We Need to Talk About Kevin” shows a sterile, gauzy curtain billowing in the night breeze against the increasing, disconcerting rattling of sprinklers. Then it switches to the bird’s eye view of a deliciously unsettling tomato fest, where scantily clad men and women are able to squeeze past each other seemingly only because of the lubrication provided by tomato juice and remnants.
Punk-influenced indie rock band, Indian School, is in its first year as a band and already is already making plans for a UK tour under the Walnut Tree Record Label. Indian School is made up of the former members of Audio Karate and has two additional members, including UCLA alumnus Eric Wood. Daily Bruin’s Margaret Davis spoke with lead vocalist, Arturo Barrios about the band’s beginnings, influences and writing process.
The Associated Students UCLA Board of Directors approved on Friday a revised version of the undergraduate student government’s request for funding to support student programming for the rest of the year.
The total amount approved, by a vote of 7-2, was $76,000.
A UCLA student was sexually assaulted early Friday morning near Saxon Suites residence hall, according to university police.
President Obama called on colleges and universities to cut costs and improve the quality of their programs or risk losing federal aid Friday morning.
“We can’t just subsidize skyrocketing tution,” he said in a speech at the University of Michigan.
