On Wednesday nine of UCLA’s a cappella groups will come together for concert to celebrate the season; it’s called “The Holidays: A Cappella-Rama” and it’ll take place at 7 p.m. at the Northwest Campus Auditorium on the Hill. But we got a little impatient, so members of Awaken A Cappella joined us in the studio.

The average college student probably isn’t the best chef in the world. But with one of the biggest feasts of the year a couple days away, it doesn’t hurt to make friends with your kitchen. Prepping a full-blown turkey is pretty intimidating. But there are other Thanksgiving favorites that are simple enough to make. Last night reporter Laura Moeini got a Thanksgiving cooking lesson from Daily Bruin A&E Editor Maryia Krivoruchko, who writes a weekly column called “Fire in the Kitchen.” The quick and easy dish of the night? Cranberry sauce.

Basketball and football continue to converge as we near the end of the football season. The pigskin team fell to Washington 24-7 in a blackout, and the basketball team is headed to Madison Square Garden for the semifinals of the preseason NIT. Students have followed Harry, Ron and Hermione on the big screen since the beginning of the saga, and for muggles, this might be the closest they can get to the wizarding world. [1:34]
November 16, 2010 – Many consider Turkish culture to be where East meets West and where history coexists with the modern world. In Turkey, European and Middle Eastern styles and ideas mingle, but for whatever reason, people don’t seem to know very much about it. UCLA’s newly established Turkish Student Association wants to change this, starting with their first-ever game night. Reporter Emily Chu has the story. [2:26]
