Sikh students shed light on religious identity

May 27, 2011 – At Sikh Awareness Day in Bruin Plaza on Wednesday, the Sikh Student Association set up a booth handing out free food and informational pamphlets. This yearly event is as much UCLA as it is Sikh. We spoke with third-year anthropology student Palvinder Dhillon and fourth-year electrical engineering student Prabhnit Singh about being Sikh at UCLA. [1:18]

Long Story Short: Faculty and students remember the landmark societal trends, events in their lives

For a generation of college students, the question is, “Where were you on Sept. 11, 2001?” For older generations, there is the death of John F. Kennedy, the bombing of Pearl Harbor. There are moments that define generations and people remember exactly where they were when they happened. Reporter Helen Zhao asked people around campus to share some of their memories. It turned out that some remember big moments. Others were affected by broader societal trends.

Talented Bruins put on Dream's Talent Show to support undocumented students

May 2, 2011 – The DREAM Act, or the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, is a much-debated piece of legislation that would provide a pathway for undocumented students to gain citizenship and pursue higher education. Last week, undocumented and documented students alike hosted a talent show to raise funds for the campus group IDEAS at UCLA, which works as a support system for undocumented students. Oxford mathematician John Lennox talks science and religion ahead of 'Christianity and the Tooth Fairy' event.

April 6, 2011 – Today the Veritas Forum will host a talk titled “Christianity and the Tooth Fairy: A UCLA law professor questions an Oxford mathematician on the claims of Jesus”.
