Hedrick dining hall closed until Thursday for construction on roof

Hedrick dining hall is closed as of lunch today and will reopen for dinner Thursday to allow time for construction on the building’s roof.

As a part of the Hill renovation, a new roof is being built for the dining hall, said Daryl Ansel, food and beverage director for UCLA Housing and Hospitality Dining Services. To avoid safety and sanitation problems from construction, no guests will be allowed in the building.

“Hedrick is our slowest dining hall, with about 350 to 500 people for lunch and 600 to 700 people for dinner,” Ansel said. “Those folks will need to get diverted to other locations.”

He added that today, people seemed spread out enough during the lunch period, which seemed like a good indication for the next couple of days.
