On Wednesday in the John Wooden Center, I played a number of pick-up basketball games in which I hardly ever utilized a proper defensive stance, failed to get to the foul line even once, and did not run a liner for every missed layup.

New men’s basketball assistant coach Phil Mathews has old ties to SoCal
The position has been filled. On Monday, UCLA men’s basketball coach Ben Howland announced the hiring of Phil Mathews as an assistant coach. Mathews replaces Donny Daniels, who left the staff earlier this offseason to take a similar position at Gonzaga.
