University police investigating armed robbery of UCLA student
At about 11:20 p.m., the student was walking north on Veteran Avenue when a man came up to him from behind, according to a police report released Friday. The man grabbed the student’s laptop and checked to see if he had any other valuables.
Body of missing Cal Poly SLO student found in Sacramento River this morning
The body of a missing Cal Poly San Luis Obispo student ““ reportedly last seen with a group of UCLA students ““ was found in the Sacramento River this morning, according to news reports.
Brett Michael Olson, a 20-year-old from Lafayette, Calif., was last seen at an area known as Beer Can Beach while participating in a Labor Day float, held last week, down the Sacramento River in Hamilton City, said Rich Warren, the Glenn County undersheriff.
Following Olson’s disappearance, his friends created a Facebook group to find a group of UCLA students who were reportedly last seen with the student.
A fisherman found the student’s body today just downstream of the beach, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Olson’s body was brought to shore by a search and rescue team and was identified by his parents, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
The Glenn County sheriff’s department could not be reached for comment.
