Local Natives concert postponed indefinitely

The indie rock band Local Natives was set to perform a free concert in Bruin Plaza on Tuesday, but the concert has been postponed indefinitely because of an undisclosed family emergency within the band.

Although UCLA’s Campus Events Commission, which was responsible for putting on the concert, said it is too soon to make exact plans, it is hoping to reschedule the band’s performance for spring quarter.

Starbucks to release 31-ounce Trenta in California Feb. 1

For those who can’t make it an hour into the day without their morning coffee, here is the ultimate caffeine fix. On Feb. 1, Starbucks will release its new 31-ounce beverage size, the Trenta, in 14 select states, including California.

According to the company’s website, 60 percent of Starbucks’ iced tea customers currently
order the largest size available, the 24-ounce Venti. The Trenta, which is available for Starbucks
iced coffee and Tazo iced teas, provides seven more ounces of refreshment than the Venti and
costs 50 cents more.

UCLA plays host to Los Angeles A Capella Festival

In the past year, a cappella music has swept the pop-culture world like an ear-pleasing plague. With shows like Fox’s hit comedy “Glee” and NBC’s reality a cappella competition, “The Sing Off,” swarming the airwaves, the genre of a cappella music has experienced a rebirth as a worldwide entertainment phenomenon. Jan. 29, UCLA will host the third annual Los Angeles A Cappella Festival, the largest a cappella festival on the West Coast.
