The four Bruin discus throwers will be competing today at the Big Throwers Classic at Hartnell College in Salinas.

Over the past weekend the men’s track and field team got its postseason ““ and hunt for a national championship ““ off to a strong start.

In the championship meet of a stacked conference, every point is important, and each team needs clutch performances from each athlete.

In their last meet before the start of the postseason, the men’s and women’s track and field teams turned in more solid results over the weekend and look to carry the momentum into the upcoming meets.

With the Pac-10 Championships and Western Regionals coming up in the next couple weeks, the No. 5 women’s and No. 7 men’s track and field teams are looking to send a few more athletes with competition in two meets this weekend.

For the men’s track and field team, the dual meet versus USC finished the way it started: with the Bruins huddled in the middle of the track doing an 8-clap.

Last year the UCLA men’s track and field team failed to contribute points in the annual Lexus Gauntlet contest against crosstown rival USC.
