Heading into the final week of spring practice, the focus of the football team has shifted toward the details. During scrimmage play on Saturday, the team practiced it’s red-zone offense and gave special teams some work on full-speed punts.

Injuries allow opportunity for walk-on quarterback
McLeod Bethel-Thompson is one of the lesser known names on the football roster, but two weeks into spring practice, the walk-on quarterback has emerged from the anonymity of being low on the depth chart. Bethel-Thompson has taken a good amount of scrimmage reps and has shown flashes of potential as two of the three quarterbacks […]
Offense gets back to basics
Instead of getting the best offensive linemen by position on the field at the same time, the Bruins’ coaching staff has made some changes to simply get their best five out there, regardless of position. Because of this, senior Chris Joseph is making the transition from guard to center. “It’s just a new position, just […]

Just about every running back listed on the depth chart has received carries during scrimmage play, with injuries to starter Chris Markey and Derrick Williams. For coach Karl Dorrell, running […]
Corners bring intensity, maturity to scrimmage
Sophomore cornerback Alterraun Verner said it all during Tuesday’s scrimmage without actually saying a word. Bearing down on walk-on quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who was rolling out to his right, Verner put a lick on him that’s normally reserved for players without red jerseys. That type of intensity is exactly what the Bruins’ secondary will look […]
