Study shows the UC is a major contributor to California's economy

The University of California generates $46.3 billion in annual economic activity for the state, according to a report released Wednesday by Economic & Planning Systems Inc.

The study, the first UC economic impact report since 2003, also concluded the UC contributes $32.8 billion toward California’s gross state product.

This shows that California and the UC are “inextricably intertwined,” according to a release from the UC Board of Regents committee on finance.
