More than 1,000 service workers protest income inequality in Westwood
Holding signs that read “Justice for Janitors” and “the 1 percent is holding us all back,” more than 1,000 protestors marched from Bruin Plaza to downtown Westwood Wednesday afternoon.
The march was organized by the United Service Workers West, a local union of service workers.

Assembly Speaker John Pérez proposes plan to generate scholarships by cutting tax breaks
Assembly Speaker John Pérez (D-Los Angeles) today announced a plan that would raise taxes on out-of-state corporations, with the aim of generating enough revenue to cut college fees by two-thirds for middle-income college students in California.
The proposal is contained in two pieces of legislation, AB 1500 and AB 1501.
