Students and celebrity panelists debate hip hop’s harmful representations

While Hip Hop has made a lasting and significant mark on American culture, the genre has also been a site of contention and division. Hip Hop Congress gathered UCLA students together with notable Hip Hop figures Little X, Melyssa Ford, Nipsey Hussle, Tony Rock, and others to take on a heated debate about the negative effects of Hip Hop culture.

The original hip hop dance maintains the art of freestyle

Considered the first form of hip hop dance, breakdancing has continued to attract a diverse group of dancers and has managed to maintain a significant role in hip hop culture. B-boy Harry Weston gives a brief history of hip hop dancing and its place in culture today.
