On the dance floor, bodies writhe in a tangle of pulsing limbs. They circle around each other, skipping, jumping, all gleefully smiling and singing with seemingly boundless energy. This is only a rehearsal.
The show is “Sweet Charity,” under the tagline, “Do you wanna have fun?” And looking at the cast during this rehearsal, the answer becomes a loud, resounding yes.
Before the play “Wrecks,” the audience is seated to the music of Nat King Cole. With his soft-as-velvet tones, Cole sings about that special lady, the mere thought of whom makes him forget about everything else.
What drives people to want to hurt others? Perhaps it’s violent movies, violent television shows, violent computer games or society in general. Then other times, it is everything and nothing in particular.
If there is anyone who can accurately sum up the film “The Wolfman,” it’s Shakira when she sang, “There’s a she-wolf in your closet, let it out so it can breathe.”
It was a sight that would have made any jewelry lover sigh ““ a dress made entirely of Swarovski crystals, each stone catching the light and sparkling like the stars on a dark night. Colleen Atwood, the designer of the dress in question, used more than one million of such crystals to adorn this and 35 other dresses featured in the Rob Marshall film “Nine.”
