Women’s basketball matches 18-2 season start record with 70-60 win against Arizona

Jasmine Dixon came up a bit gimpy after taking a flagrant foul against the Sun Devils on Thursday, but the junior forward was more than coherent against the Wildcats Saturday.

The All-Pac-10 performer finished with 22 points and nine rebounds during the UCLA women’s basketball team’s 70-60 win over Arizona, using her deft footwork to glide around stagnant Wildcat defenders.

“I still feel that I could have worked a lot harder than what I did,” the junior forward said.

Up-and-unders, mid-range jumpers, power moves, hook shots on the block.

Junior forward Jasmine Dixon had her full arsenal on display against the Women of Troy on Saturday, pouring in 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

It was perhaps the Bruin women’s basketball team’s most dominant victory thus far, and undeniably their most complete effort.

With a dominant showing on the boards and on defense, the team’s Saturday performance was perhaps how coach Nikki Caldwell envisioned the team playing upon taking the job two years ago.

“I thought we had good preparation leading up to the game,” said Caldwell.
