There comes a time when every team has to step up and take it to the next level. For the men’s cross country team, that time is now.

The UCLA cross country teams will travel to Corvallis, Ore. to take part in the 39th annual Pac-10 Conference Championship on Saturday.

The UCLA cross country teams will travel to Eugene, Ore., on Saturday to compete in the second annual Bill Dellinger Invitational. The event is the first major meet of the collegiate season and the first real test for both the men and women.

The UCLA men’s cross country team has high expectations for its upcoming season, returning a deep squad of 13 runners and welcoming 11 talented freshmen. Led by coach Eric Peterson, the Bruins hope to build upon last year’s strong season.

The UCLA women’s cross country team is focused on building a program that can rival the likes of top-ranked Stanford, and top-20 teams like Arizona State and Washington.

For the second weekend in a row, the Bruins narrowly escaped the sweep.

In a weekend battle between the two top teams in the Pac-10, No. 21 UCLA (28-22, 12-6 Pac-10) could not preserve the lead it had in all three games.
