The UCLA baseball team went into the weekend hoping for some momentum-building wins before Pac-10 play resumes.
A three-game sweep seems to have worked just fine.

At this point, stating that every game remaining on the UCLA baseball schedule holds importance would be an understatement.

The UCLA baseball team, which has been fighting inconsistency all year, will not lack the motivation to continue improving this weekend. That is because the No. 23 Bruins (13-10, 2-1 Pac-10) play host to crosstown-rival USC (13-14, 2-4 Pac-10) during a crucial three-game series at Jackie Robinson Stadium starting tonight at 6 p.m.

A highly touted UCLA offense, which has been fighting inconsistency this season, displayed its full potential over the weekend against Cal Poly at Baggett Stadium in San Luis Obispo.

It has been 20 days since the Bruins began their baseball season, and they finally will be playing games outside of Southern California.

The No. 3-ranked Bruins (5-1) used great pitching to sweep through three different opponents over the weekend in the inaugural Urban Invitational baseball tournament. UCLA defeated Southern, Bethune-Cookman and crosstown rival USC to push their winning streak to four games.

During the first week of the new season, the Bruin baseball team has seen a little bit of everything.
