A season that began with great expectations for the UCLA baseball team has turned into a season of underachievement and frustration.

For third baseman Jermaine Curtis and the No. 23 UCLA baseball team, this weekend’s series on the road against No. 6 Arizona was about one thing: opening the Pac-10 season on the right foot.

Just when it seemed that the UCLA baseball team had finally figured out the reasons behind its offensive struggles in the early part of the season, the Bruins took a step back.

If UCLA wishes to prove that it is ready to be considered among the elite teams in college baseball, the Bruins need to play well against those elite teams.
