So far, it has been a pretty good year for Southern California sports.

I feel like recently all I’ve talked about in my columns are how upset I am with the world of sports and the unusual happenings of the athletic world around us. Which is a shame, because so many good and interesting things are happening right now (I’m so happy Billy Donovan is about to leave Florida I could cry) and it’s sad of me to dwell on the bad. So I apologize.

The recent events in the world of basketball have made me revisit the question we all started asking ourselves on April 10.

Take any two coaching greats, put them together in the same work environment, and it is not hard to imagine the magic it can create.

I respect all sports columnists, no matter how outrageous their claims may be. Everybody has a right to say or write whatever they want, and I’ve never thought lower of any person or any writer just because of that.

I really used to like Robert Horry. His years with the Lakers remind me of the golden days, some of the best years of my life.
