They’ve been counted out from virtually the beginning.
The No. 12 Bruins weren’t able to start the season off on any sort of streak, as is generally expected from a team starting with a preseason ranking in the top 15.
Bruins advance to quarterfinals
With the thought of a potential quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 Georgia in the back of its mind, and the noise coming from the neighboring courts where the Bulldogs were playing, the No. 9 UCLA men’s tennis team was able to pull off its third consecutive 4-0 shutout victory in this year’s NCAA Championships.
Bruins to battle for spot in quarterfinals
The members of the No. 9 UCLA men’s tennis team (21-3) are no strangers to pulling off upsets in the postseason, having done so a number of times in the past few years. Thus, it comes as no surprise that when the Bruins take on eighth-seeded Oklahoma State (19-4) today in the round of 16, the last thing on the team’s mind will be their opponent’s ranking.
Tennis earns ticket to next round
It came as no surprise to UCLA coach Billy Martin that the No. 9 UCLA men’s tennis team’s ticket to Athens, Ga., for the Sweet 16 was punched by three seniors who contributed to the win over Texas Tech in the Round of 32.
No. 12 Bruins secure spot in Sweet 16
With her team’s season on the line, freshman Yasmin Schnack was able to fight her way back into the third set of her match and clinch a spot in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Championships for the No. 12 UCLA women’s tennis team.
