Crimewatch
Arrests
A Man was taken into custody this week for Burglary, the suspect
also had a warrant from IngIewood for lewd and disorderly conduct,
he was later transported to West Hollywood where bail was set at
$17,000.
A pedestrian stop behind the chancellors residence was the site
of another arrest, after there were reports of a man lodging in the
area. The suspect was taken into custody because of a West Valley
felony warrant for burglary and taken to LAPD West LA.
Theft
Covel Commons was the area for thieves this week, with backpacks
being the most coveted items. Three backpacks were simultaneously
removed from Covel on Thursday with a total loss of $770. Another
backpack was removed from the same area three days earlier.
Two more backpacks were removed from the Reiber Hall dinning
area, one on Monday at a loss of $237, and the other on Thursday at
a loss of $145. In addition a backpack and sweatshirt was removed
from the Emergency Room between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday.
A $195 red men’s Dino F400 10-speed bicycle was taken from the
engineering I racks, and three books were taken from Powel Library.
Some personal items were taken from the Men’s Gym between 11 p.m.
and 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday at a loss of $1540.
There was a burglary at the School of Dentistry, and a phosphor
screen was removed.
Motor Vehicle Theft
Parking permits continue to be the main motivation for car
break-ins with a total of four being stolen this week. three were
taken from Structure 8, two from Level 2 and one from Level 1.
Another permit was taken from Structure 14 Level 4.
Unknown suspects removed various items from a vehicle at 3251
Sepulveda at a loss of $215, and $675 worth of land scaping
equipment was taken from a vehicle parked in Structure 9 Level 2.
And a Red 88 Honda Prelude was taken from Structure 3 Level 4 on
Monday.
Vandalism
There were only two instances of vandalism this week, a driver
side front window was smashed at 547 Gayley, and in the same area
two buildings were spray painted.
