UCLA’s CPA Summer Splash The UCLA Center for the Performing Arts
presents cooling fun in the summer sun at the Summer Splash-In
Movie. On August 16 at 7 p.m., there will be swimming, balloon
artists, face painters, food and a huge outdoor screen showing
cartoons and other entertainment for the whole family. Tickets are
available at the door; $5 for adults, $2.50 children 12 and under.

Santa Monica Who knew hanging out at the airport could be so much
fun? On August 18, a pan-Asian market/festival kicks off at
Typhoon, a family restaurant and hangout perched alongside Santa
Monica Airport’s main landing strip. Decorated and lighted booths
adjacent to the runway will feature the tastes, sounds and smells
of an Asian street fair, with Asian delicacies, music, folk dancing
and craft-making. Free origami classes at Typhoon are also held
every third Sunday of the month. Admission to the Asian Night
Market is $22.50 and free for children under 10. For more info call
(310) 390-6565. Artist group runs exhibit Side Street Projects of
Santa Monica, a non-profit artist-run organization, presents an
exhibition of work by various artists who focus on text or images
to evoke factual, historical or personal propaganda. The exhibit,
which runs until August 31, uses sexual identity as the central

829-0779. Armand Hammer holds festival The UCLA Armand Hammer
Museum presents a multicultural family festival on August 16,
beginning at 11 a.m. Throughout the day, artists from Mexican Folk
dancers to Billy Higgins’ World Stage jazz musicians will perform.
Other activities at the festival include hands-on art workshops and
storytelling. Museum admission is $4.50 for adults, $1 for students
with identification, and free to everyone on Thursdays from 6-9
