Absolut L.A. International As a collaboration between galleries
and museums in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Venice, West Hollywood
and Beverly Hills, a six-week international art invitational titled
Absolut L.A. International shows through Aug. 17. International
artists invited by art institutions will hold cooperative exhibits,
panel discussions and other special events. The Museum of
Contemporary Art, the L.A. County Museum, and the UCLA Armand
Hammer Museum are just a few of the participants. Admission for
Absolut L.A. International is free. For more information, call the
William Turner Gallery at (310) 392-8399. Armand Hammer Museum The
UCLA Armand Hammer Museum will be showcasing two new exhibits on
Wednesday. "Gerardo Rueda: Spanish Master of Collage" exhibits the
works of Rueda, who began creating collages in the 1950s. His
experimentation with unique manifestations of shape and color will
be on display through Oct. 5. "Scene of the Crime" is a collection
of photographs, sculptures, paintings, installations, videos and
performance pieces that address art as a kind of evidence. This
exhibit also runs through Oct. 5. Admission is $1 for UCLA students
with IDs and free to everyone on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. For more

’97 UCLA Summer SongFest ’97, which began this Saturday, will
continue the concert series through Aug. 2 with various events.
Performances this week will include a recital of romantic French
and German songs titled "On Wings of Song," pieces sung by soprano
Ruth Golden titled "Songs for a Summer Night" and high school
singers from UCLA Vocal Camp in "Old Songs – Young Voices." All
events are in Schoenberg’s Popper Theater and admission is free.
