walked the Promenade one too many times and are in need of more
entertainment than a wannabe group of Boyz II Men street
performers, the Santa Monica Pier offers some grooves right on the
beach. The 13th annual Twilight Dance Series ’97 is a Thursday
night party with a different musical guest each week. Throughout
July and August, groups from the bluesy Carter Brothers (July 10)
and the rockin’ Red Elvises (July 24) to the Afro poppin’ Quatre
Etoiles (August 28) serve up free doses of deep by-the-sea dance
rhythms. If Thursdays just don’t seem like enough, Rusty’s Surf
Ranch Restaurant is another hangout that offers beach-side
entertainment every night, including karaoke on Mondays and musical
soloists the rest of the week. Either way, with a view of the sea,
food to munch, and an earful of music to hear, all senses will be
satisfied. MUSIC: The Twilight Dance Series ’97 occurs Thursdays at
