While off-the-court drama has taken the forefront of the recent attention when it comes to the UCLA men’s basketball team, the Bruins still had a game to play this evening against the CSU Northridge Matadors.
At halftime, the Bruins are up 38-24 as they look to set aside the distractions that came with two transfers earlier this week.
Freshman forward Shabazz Muhammad leads the team in scoring with 11 points while fellow freshman Kyle Anderson has filled the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, three steals, two blocks and an assist.
UCLA started out the game in a zone defense, something they haven’t done yet this season. The change looks to be paying early dividends as the Matadors are only shooting 30.3 percent from the field so far.
