The UC Board of Regents has postponed a vote to increase fees for professional programs, according to a press release from the UC Office of the President.
The regents take up their bimonthly board meeting today and continue to meet until Thursday. A vote to raise professional degree supplemental tuition levels ““ or fee increases for professional programs ““ for 61 programs across the UC system was originally scheduled for Wednesday, the second day of the board meeting.
The UCLA School of Nursing and the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television were among schools to propose fee increases, according to the regents agenda item.
Gov. Jerry Brown, who is an ex-officio regent, requested the item be postponed until a future regents meeting, to allow him more time to understand “policies and methodology involved” in raising fees, according to the press release.
Brown plans to attend the Wednesday meeting in person, the release stated.
Other topics for the regents’ three-day meeting include the approval of the UC budget, a discussion about undergraduate, nonresident enrollment and changes to student health policies on campus.
