Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott responds to Shabazz Muhammad ruling

During halftime of the UCLA-Washington State football game on Saturday night, Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott spoke to Daily Bruin sports columnist Sam Strong about the NCAA’s decision to rule freshman forward Shabazz Muhammad ineligible to play for UCLA basketball:

“We only just heard about it when everyone else heard about it so I have not had a chance to find out some of the specifics underlying it. I think there are still some questions about exactly what it entails and what the meaning of it is and I haven’t had a chance to find out anything more specific about it yet. I know everyone is disappointed that he’s been ruled ineligible at the moment. How long that’s for and what the next steps in the process are, I’m not clear at this point. We have not spoken to the NCAA and I haven’t had a chance to connect with UCLA either.”

“The school is on the front line dealing with the NCAA about it but we closely monitor these things and are involved in the dialogue. There are people on my staff who are engaged in the process.”
