Man dies in traffic accident south of Wilshire Boulevard

A collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle at around 7:37 p.m. Thursday caused police to temporarily close Westwood Boulevard between Wilshire Boulevard and Wellworth Avenue.

The accident left the motorcyclist, a 19-year-old male, dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

University police said the motorcyclist was not a UCLA student.

The driver of the car, a woman, sustained no physical injuries, according to LAFD.

[ UPDATED at 9:25 p.m.: The motorcyclist was traveling on Westwood Boulevard, before he collided with a vehicle, a black SUV, that was making a left turn on Ashton Avenue, said LAPD officer Rosa Moreno.

Witnesses told police the speed of the motorcycle may have been a factor in the collision, she said.

Portions of Westwood Boulevard and Ashton Avenue remain closed.]
