News and notes from week one:
- Maurice Jones-Drew had a decent return to the field after a lengthy holdout. The former UCLA running back rushed for 77 yards on 19 carries, but told NFL.com that he “was ready for 80 carries” in the week one matchup against the Vikings.
- The Titans were on the bad end of a 34-13 drubbing against the Patriots, but the blame for their defensive shortcomings couldn’t be pinned on former Bruins Alterraun Verner and Akeem Ayers, who combined for 20 of Tennessee’s 58 tackles.
- Broncos safety Rahim Moore was fined $21,000 for a hit he delivered to the Steelers’ Emmanuel Sanders. Moore and the Denver defense will be tested Monday night when they take on Atlanta.
