Junior running back Malcolm Jones seemingly confirmed via Twitter on Friday that he is transferring out of UCLA.

Scout.com first reported Jones’ intention to transfer.

Jones arrived at UCLA in 2010 as one of the most hyped recruits in recent years. He was named the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year out of Oaks Christian High School.

In his first season, Jones looked like he would be a major contributor for the Bruins during his time at UCLA, racking up 294 yards and a touchdown as a true freshman.

Last season, Jones received less playing time, which resulted in a drop-off in production as he gained only 103 yards on 25 carries throughout the season.

Jones received little playing time in UCLA’s first game against Rice and had been relegated to fourth on the depth chart.

There is no word yet on where Jones might transfer to, but he will have to sit out one season because of NCAA transfer regulations. Jones will have two years of eligibility remaining after missing the 2012 season.
