Team Amber Rescue party searches Pacific Palisades for missing UCLA student David Goeser

Team Amber Rescue, an organization that trains volunteers to find and help missing persons, has organized a search party in Pacific Palisades for today and Sunday for missing UCLA student David John Goeser.

Earlier this week, police expanded the search for Goeser, a fourth-year English student who was last seen on July 22, to the entire West Coast after his parents found a Washington driver’s license in his apartment, police said.

Volunteers from the search party are searching areas around Topanga State Park in Pacific Palisades because it is the last place they know Goeser was, said Carrie McGonigle, founder of Team Amber Rescue.

The 75 volunteers, divided into 10 teams, have yet to find any information about Goeser’s whereabouts, McGonigle said.

“We’re making progress because we’re covering area,” she said. “No news is good news; the more area we can exclude that he’s in, the higher the chances are that (Goeser is) still with us.”

Volunteers will resume their search on Sunday.

Individuals interested in helping the search party must be 18 or older, bring a valid ID, and wear hiking-appropriate attire. More information is available on the Facebook page, Find David Goeser.
