UCLA defeats TCU 6-2 in first game of NCAA Super Regionals

With the bases loaded in the sixth inning of Friday night’s NCAA Super Regionals, junior first baseman Cody Regis walloped a double to left center field.

The bases clearing double broke open the game in UCLA’s favor, putting the Bruins up 6-2 against TCU. The Bruins held the Horned Frogs scoreless over the next three innings to secure a win in the opening game of the NCAA Super Regionals.

Sophomore pitcher Adam Plutko struggled early, giving up two solo home runs in the first two innings, but settled in to hold TCU to two earned runs while striking out seven and walking only two. Freshman David Berg pitched two scoreless relief innings to close out the Bruins’ win.

UCLA will play TCU again tomorrow at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. A win would propel them to the College World Series in Omaha., Nebraska.
