TUCSON, Ariz. “”mdash; UCLA has weathered the storm on Arizona’s senior day here at McKale Center and trails at the half 27-26.
Playing in one of the most hostile home enviornments in the Pac-12 Conference, the Bruins did a nice job controlling the game’s tempo in the first half, not allowing the Wildcats to run the floor.
The game’s officials have tried to keep the game under control by calling nearly every potential foul. UCLA coach Ben Howland took a gamble by putting sophomore center Joshua Smith back into the game with two fouls and he quickly picked up a third, which will likely limit his second-half minutes.
UCLA senior guard Jerime Anderson leads the Bruins with 10 points despite briefly leaving the game with an injury. Redshirt sophomore Travis Wear chipped in nine points and six rebounds as well.
Senior guard Lazeric Jones, sophomore guard Tyler Lamb and Smith combined for just three points. Jones was scoreless in this building a season ago.
