It hasn’t been spectacular for the UCLA men’s basketball team in the first half against Pepperdine, but it’s a start.
The Bruins, vying for their first win over a Division I opponent, are up 28-11 at halftime against the Waves.
UCLA has been quicker than Pepperdine in the hustle department, beating the Waves to most of the loose balls in lieu of a shaky 11-of-25 shooting half.
Redshirt sophomore forwards David and Travis Wear, holding true to their identical form, have each scored six points. Travis added 10 first-half rebounds, five on each side of the court.
Freshman guard Norman Powell came off the bench to chip in five points — a 3-pointer and fast-break dunk off his own steal.
Mostly absent from the festivities have been sophomore center Joshua Smith and junior forward Reeves Nelson, who each picked up two early fouls.
