An 18-year-old man was found dead in the Theta Chi fraternity house at 663 Gayley Ave. Saturday afternoon, Los Angeles Police Department officials said. He was not a UCLA student.
Police were called by friends who found Manhattan Beach resident Glen Parrish in bed at the house, said Los Angeles County coroner’s investigator Kitty McCracken. Parrish was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m.
An overdose may be the cause of death, but it is still under investigation, said LAPD Sgt. Richard Brunson. Alcohol and possibly prescription drugs were believed to be involved, but police are still waiting for toxicology reports, Brunson said.
The death was not ruled a homicide, he said.
Parrish was believed to be visiting a friend at UCLA. It is possible he consumed the alcohol and drugs at a party that was not at the Theta Chi house, but that is still undetermined, Brunson said.
