California’s public universities have experienced the highest tuition hikes of public universities nationally, according to a report released Wednesday by the College Board.
Between the University of California, California State University and the community college systems, tuition climbed a total of 21 percent last year. Cuts in state funding are the primary cause, according to the report.
Nationally, tuition rates jumped nationally by 8.3 percent last year.
If the report excluded California, the national average would come in at 7 percent, the report said.
