The UCLA women’s soccer team peppered the Washington Huskies with shots all evening long but it was not until the 79th minute that the Bruins were finally able to find the back of the net.
A Washington foul a few yards outside of the 18 yard box set up the goal for the Bruin. Freshman Chelsea Stewart sent the ball past several Husky defenders in the box to score the first goal of her collegiate career and give UCLA a 1-0 win.
The Bruins outshot the Huskies 16-1, shutting down Washington’s offense completely in the second half. The Huskies were unable to pull off a single shot in the final 45 minutes of the game.
UCLA had plenty of offensive opportunities throughout the game, earning 14 corner kicks.
The No. 2 Bruins remain undefeated and improve to 8-0-1 and 1-0 in Pac-12 play. They will face Oregon in a week on Drake Stadium.
