On Friday, green thumbs can move from the gardens into the heat of the kitchen for the chance to battle for culinary sovereignty.
Student group Ecology, Economy, Equity (E3) is sponsoring Green Chef, a student-judged cooking competition for students featuring a mini farmer’s market and a chance to learn more about sustainable cooking. Theta Xi will be hosting the competition at their house on Friday at 2 p.m.
The event will kick off with a fair consisting of on-campus groups and companies that deal with food sustainability, including Numi Teas. The Westwood farmer’s market will sponsor a small farmer’s market for attendees to sample and purchase fresh fare.
Chefs who have signed up will go to the Broxton Farmer’s Market today to pick up a secret ingredient and gift cards to Whole Foods Market. The victor will be the competitor who creates a vegetarian dish that excels in creativity, taste and sustainability.
