For almost 10 minutes, the dancers got to rest their weary feet and watch someone else do the dancing for a change.

NSU Modern put on a rousing performance just before Dance Marathon hit the halfway point ““ 13 hours and counting!

We also switched to a new shift theme, “Get Charged.”

The dancers seemed to be losing some steam before ““ a lot less dancing, and a lot more standing ““ but as the clock struck midnight, the crowd certainly got charged up about something.

A new wave of moralers rushed in and threw glow sticks into the crowd as Lil Jon’s “Get Low” blasted from the speakers. The glow sticks, in addition to the abundance of light-up grills, made me feel like I was at some sort of rave. Or Disneyland at night.

Thirteen hours in, and there have been no major injuries to speak of. General Committee members manning the first aid station said they have only had to hand out Advil for muscle aches and headaches. Let’s hope this trend continues as the dancers tackle the second half of Dance Marathon.
