This week, I chose a few songs to comprise a “Soundtrack to a Failed Midterm.” These songs can relate to your pain and suffering, but they can also give you a motivational kick on the behind to get you moving on toward the next test. Unfortunately, I could only find one of the songs online, but they are all available for purchase on iTunes.
1. “Staggering and All” by David Wax Museum is mainly an atmospheric little ditty, filled with random brass notes, acoustic guitar and of course, a few vocals sung in Spanish. It’s the perfect song to accompany this thought sequence in your head: “Alright, let’s do this… ______ …uh oh.”

2. “Doubt” by The Boxer Rebellion is my favorite song off this soundtrack. It’s a mostly mournful song, with predominately acoustic guitar accompanying lonely and echoing vocals. Though the song does ramp up near the last minute or so, this song is a sad one. Perfect, considering that, after failing a midterm, so are you.
3. “Time for a Change” by The O’s is the most upbeat song on this soundtrack, with bouncy banjos and harmonicas flitting around lyrics that encourage the subject of the song to take the effort to change her life even though it’s difficult. Your next midterm will cower before you if you have this folk/alternative dandy blasting behind you.
