After 12 seasons as coach of the UCLA women’s soccer team, Jillian Ellis has moved on and accepted a position as the director of Youth Women’s National Team Development with U.S. soccer, it was announced Thursday.

Replacing Ellis will be B.J. Snow, a former assistant coach who had worked as part of Ellis’ coaching staff for the past five seasons.

“I’m honored to take this position and it’s a great opportunity,” Ellis said in a teleconference. “It’s on the cutting edge of moving forward the women’s game, which I care so passionately about.”

Under Ellis’ tenure, UCLA made seven consecutive College Cup appearances, from 2003 to 2009. She holds a 229-45-14 record all-time as the Bruins’ coach.

It marks Snow’s first stint as head coach. He first joined the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach in 2006 before being promoted to the assistant head coaching position in 2009.
