Terrence Austin was moving extremities

UPDATE: AUSTIN WAS MOVING HIS EXTREMITIES AND CONSCIOUS. HE’S ON HIS WAY TO RIVER BEND HOSPITAL TO BE CHECKED FOR SPINAL INJURIES.

UCLA wide receiver Terrence Austin has taken a huge hit to the head from Oregon free safety TJ Ward. Austin has been down for minutes and isn’t moving. The typically-loud Autzen Stadium has fallen nearly silent. Players and coaches are either kneeling on the sidelines or standing over Austin. It looks like Austin will be immobilized and carted off the field. We will post any new information as we receive it.

Two of the several people standing near Austin are UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel and Oregon’s T.J. Ward. It was Ward who delivered the blow just as Austin turned his head to try to locate the ball.

Austin’s weight is listed at just 161 pounds, but he’s a fearless player who’s had a great season so far. He had four catches and 56 yards tonight prior to the injury.

Oregon players are encouraging the crowd to cheer as Austin is lifted and placed onto a cart.

"Terrence Austin, 58,000 people are pulling for you," the Autzen stadium PA announcer said as Austin was carted off.

The Oregon student body- known for its sometimes poor behavior- gave Austin a huge ovation as the cart passed that section of the stadium.
